Canteen

CANTEEN

The school canteen operates on Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 2pm.  (More canteen days depend on the availability of volunteers.) The Hanwood Store fills lunch orders on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Canteen operates under the umbrella of the P & C and is managed by an elected canteen committee.  The canteen is staffed by parents and committee members on a voluntary basis. If you are able to assist on either Monday or Friday please contact the school and they will pass your name onto the Canteen Supervisor.

Our aim is to provide quality, nutritious foods and in so doing help reinforce both classroom and home teachings of the importance of healthy eating. This means encouraging children to make healthy choices and offering these at a reasonable price. The canteen also adheres to the Governments newly introduced guidelines for “Healthy Eating in Schools Campaign”.

With the continued support of the children, their families and the staff within the school, the canteen is able to make considerable financial contributions toward the purchase of much needed resources and equipment for the school. The canteen committee has in past years purchased several computers and software, library books (which is an annual contribution), reading books and reading scheme awards, sports ribbons and medals, CD players, a new freezer and reverse cycle air conditioner in the canteen itself, TV and video units, the Kindergarten Sanctuary, support of the senior behavior program as well as many other much needed classroom resources. The canteen also subsidises school sports and excursion activities. Even though canteen is so supportive of the school, it operates on a minimal profit margin and endeavors to keep prices as low as possible.

How to Order

1.  Please use a large lunch bag.

2.  Write your child's name on the top of the bag.

3.  Write their class name under this.

4.  If the order is for recess please write RECESS clearly under the class name.

5.  Write their order on the bag including cost of the items.

6.  Include money in the bag.  Please try to include the correct change.

7.  If you have more than one child ordering and you are combining money in one child's bag please specify this on all bags.

8.  Each class has a lunch order basket, please get your child to place their order in the basket.

9.  Lunch orders are collected at 9.30am.  Children who forget to put their order in may end up with a sandwich.
